Key Travel Information:

  • -Regulatory changes are minor nuances, for the most part the effect is on tourism, almost exclusively.

  • It is important to travel with an organization well acquainted with Cuba and with longevity of relationships, to insure compliance.

  • -Compliance is easy, if you have a Guide tapped into Cuban ministry leaders.  You have that with Wayfinders.

  • -Charters flights have been the means of travel for years for mission trips, and that continues unaltered. (We've continued to recommend them despite other airline avenues opening because charters are the smooth "turn key".  So, travel to Cuba for missions remains unchanged and will remain so, based on the regulations)

  • -An important emphasis we're seeing with our current political landscape is the new direction to not support the government via government owned hotels, buses, etc.  These are all tied to tourism.  (We utilize private travel and lodging and vendors not affiliated with the military-linked conglomerate GAESA). We're a missions organization, not a tourist organization.

  • Some missions organizations may be unaware of the new enforcement rules, but it's important to realize you are responsible, even if they do not understand the law.  You should be concerned if an organization utilizes a government owned bus or hotel.

  • -Tourism is not allowed.  The wording for this is "traveler's schedule of activities must not include free time or recreation in excess."  No worries there, we're busy and you will be too.  That said, when we visit our ministry friends in Havana and assist them, we're free to enjoy the sites of the city in the process.

  • -Mission Trips to Cuba are OPEN, there's just a few important guidelines to follow and steps to take - we've got you covered.
